Dubai: Stunning Aerial Perspective of the Growing Metropolis
Karim Nafatni is able to infuse even more power to the glowing lights of lively Dubai in his striking series of cityscapes. The Dubai-based photographer and airline pilot is certainly not one to shy away from heights. In this series in progress, Nafatni scales to the very summits of the loftiest skyscrapers he can find.
Some are as high as 1,000 feet, giving him incredible perspectives as he captures the incredible bustling metropolis. By doing so, Nafatni offers his viewers a chance for reflection on the inherent beauty of innovative and modern city architecture in Dubai. “Most of the time I do let my emotions and feelings guide me and let the shot come to me rather than pushing for it to happen,” he says.
Dubai is an emirate in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) federation. It is located on the southeast coast of the Persian Gulf and is one of the seven emirates that make up the country. Dubai has the biggest population in the UAE and the second-largest land area, second only to the capital, Abu Dhabi. The city of Dubai can be found on the emirate’s northern coastline and heads up the Dubai-Sharjah-Ajman metropolitan region.
Dubai has evolved as a modern metropolis that has steadily become a global city and a cultural and business center of the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region. As of 2012, Dubai was 22nd in the ranking of the most expensive cities in the world. It holds the distinction of the most expensive city in the Middle East.
The high flying Nafatni has this write-up on his website. “Nafatni“ Karim Nafatni is an Airline Captain and photography enthusiast. He seriously got into the Art when he got his first DSLR back in 2010. Addicted to height and fan of architecture,he climbs the highest skyscrapers of Dubai to take his pictures ,sometimes more than 300 meters above ground. As the top of the biggest buildings in the world is not high enough for him,he carries his camera with him during work to document his daily routine in”his Office” and shoots from his flight deck.”
