Golden Gate Bridge links San Francisco to California’s northern counties. With its terrific and soaring 746-foot tall towers, far-reaching main cables, distinctive International Orange color, as well as Art Deco styling, it is an iconic landmark that belongs to the west coast. Having more than 10 million annual visitors, crowds are almost always a certainty to visit.

The Golden Gate is a suspension bridge spanning the mile-wide, three-mile-long channel between San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean, known as the Golden Gate strait. The structure connects San Francisco to Marin County and it is one of the most globally recognized symbols of not only San Francisco, but California, and the United States as well. The Golden Gate Bridge has been declared one of the Wonders of the Modern World by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Ertürk has been taking his photos of this marvelous expanse of steel and metal since 2006. As a native of San Francisco, Ertürk has explicitly trained much of his attention on the bridge. His approach however is distinct in that he documents the world recognizable landmark as it stretches across the Golden Gate strait, peaking through the clouds from high above. In Ertürk’s homage to the structure, one can see the bright bridge, resplendent from various perspectives as it dominates the skyline.

Ertürk uses long exposures, occasionally resorting to multiple layers of shots combined, to show the movement of cars traversing the bridge, the fog rolling as it comes in, as well as some breathtaking night time views. He employs HDR techniques which yield the vivid range of rich and intense colors.
