Apple products are nice to look at, but they can be pricey. Considering that there are similar products on the market, some people opt for the cheaper alternatives even if they are not of the same quality or design as Apple products. For example, I got a Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adaptor for less than $10 at a local store, whereas that would have set me back at least $29 if had bought it at the Apple store. But that’s just small-time stuff. Ever wish you had that 27-inch monitor sitting at your desk? Well, you can get a similar one for around $600 less.
Enjoy 2560×1440 resolution through Dual Link Digital DVI-D inputs and the same IPS technology that several high-end brands offer in their pricier screens. You won’t be getting Apple’s thunderbolt technology, though.
The heart of this monitor is the beautiful IPS (In-Plane Switching) LED panel made by LG in Korea. This is the same panel that is used in the 27″ Apple Cinema Displays, which are famous for their stunning color reproduction and ultra-wide viewing angle.
The design is not too impressive, so if you were hoping for an Apple monitor replica, you are going to be disappointed. It all boils down to how much you’re willing to pay for a prettier package and the Apple logo.
Personally, I love Apple products even after using other brands in the past, but I can’t stomach spending a grand on just a monitor. When I become filthy rich I’ll buy a couple just so they match my other Apple stuff, but for now, I’m sure I would be more than happy with the Monoprice monitor.
Excited to purchase one right now? Sorry, you are going to have to cool your heels for a while; the monitors have been selling fast and are on backorder as of the moment, though the ETA for new stocks is on March 20 (Tomorrow!!). In the meantime, find out more about the product or you can just go ahead and order one at the Monoprice store.
