It comes as no surprise that Vanity Fair is able come out with such fabulous photos of the recently concluded Academy Awards. For those from another planet, Vanity Fair is a popular culture, fashion, and current affairs magazine published by Condé Nast.
Vanity Fair as we know it today has been published since 1983, and there have been various editions for up to 4 European countries as well as the widely-read American edition. The magazine has become an institution for its indelible portraits of the world’s most famous, interesting and celebrated people. The iconic publication employs no less than the world’s most gifted photographers. Vanity Fair has also come to be known for its annual Oscar Party, one of the post-ceremony’s most anticipated social events.
This 2014, Vanity Fair partnered with Instagram to build the ultimate star studio. Located next to the party, a very spartanly decorated space made up of a wood plank floor and some distressed, rustic furniture was used, and that was all it took to get this year’s collection of glamorous images. Contributing photographer Mark Seliger shot the portraits of the A-list guest line-up the entire evening.
“We’re aiming to capture a little of the glamour of Oscar night in a timeless yet modern and accessible way,” said Seliger about this year’s theme.
The results of the unlikely set are nothing short of stunning, as the images ooze with glitz and understated class and glamour. Among those in the vanity Fair shoot were Paul Rudd and Adam Scott, Sofia Vergara, Luptia Nyong’o, Reese Witherspoon, Selena Gomez, Jon Hamm, this year’s host herself Ellen DeGeneres with Portia de Rossi, Lady Gaga, Nolan Funk, Donatella Versace, Bill Murray, Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson, Leslie Mann and Judd Apatow, Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeld and many, many more others.
