ESPN Magazine’s Music Issue is worth checking out if you’re a fan of any of these album covers. See them again but with athletes instead of musicians on the cover this time. It’s a cool idea that entailed a strict attention to detail to get them as faithful to the original as possible. Among the covers are those from Michael Jackson, Nirvana, Katy Perry, Bob Dylan, Run DMC, and more. My favorite is the remake of Bob Dylan’s “Freewheelin”, which was taken in Greenwich Village, NYC.
Photographer Matthias Clamer, along with 14 athletes, recreated iconic album covers from the past few decades. The photo above is of NFL quarterback Josh Freeman of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers posing as Michael Jackson on the Thriller album, AKA the best-selling album of all time.
