While the selfie may be all the rage and indelibly part of our shot options, it still does not compare with an actual person taking a photo of you. That seems to be the point driven across by creative directors Peter Sedlacik and Zuzu Galova who put together a playful series as each acted as the other’s personal photographer in a series called Lens Between Us. The collection consists of snapshots of the duo’s travels together, and they make a point of photographing each other in unison.
It is a veritable around-the world trip as the couple shoots each other from opposite perspectives at the same time. It might seem confusing occasionally, but their photographs feature some of the most beautiful background vistas in the world. Take your time to view these images, since although it may seem like a fun and playful series (which it is), they feature some amazing backdrops, whether close behind like travel souvenirs, or panoramic in nature such as a wide open ocean horizon.
Near or far from each other, the images in Lens Between Us are charming pairs of photographs that seen together form one visual experience. Some image pairings may look totally different while others appear more like mirror images of a location.
Essentially, what we have is a 360-degree look at places that show beaches, gardens, shops, animals, museums, as well as other tourist attractions in countries like Portugal, Slovakia, Prague, Germany, Singapore, and Australia. Lens Between Us also reveals the close connection between Peter and Zuzu as they globetrot the world.
No matter where they are, regardless of how intriguing a new place may be, the other is always the focal point of every souvenir picture taken. So the next time you contemplate a selfie, maybe you should consider the concept behind Peter and Zuzu’s Lens Between Us, for a refreshing change.
