Getting Tasered is by no means anything but pleasant. A Taser is a specific brand for electroshock weapons or a conductive electrical weapon or CEW made available by Taser International as a self-defense weapon. The Taser gun uses electrical current to stop voluntary control of muscles resulting in neuromuscular incapacitation. A person struck by a Taser will undergo stimulation of his or her sensory nerves and motor nerves, and will thus experience powerful involuntary muscle convulsions.
The device was introduced as a non-lethal weapon for use by police to restrain escaping, aggressive, or potentially treacherous people, who would have otherwise been subjected to more deadly weapons such as a gun. A typical Taser CEW will fire a pair of small dart-like electrodes, which remain linked to the main unit by conductive wire as they are rocketed by tiny compressed nitrogen charges.
The air cartridge has two electrodes and propellant for a single shot and is replaced after each use. Taser shots have been portrayed many times in the movies, and what you normally see is someone convulsing helplessly for a short while.
Patrick Hall, a South Carolina wedding photographer recently went on to do a rather crazy photo series. He decided to ‘shoot’ (pardon the pun) the various reactions of people at the precise instant they are struck with a Taser stun gun. To add a special twist to the already zany pictorial, each person was tazed by either a close friend or significant other, creating an even more fun charged experience.
“The person getting tazed was almost always nervous and jittery with either a sense of fear or anxiety. The participants doing the tazing had a different demeanor altogether. Most of them were excited to cause pain to their friend and only showed remorse immediately after executing the shock,” said Hall of the photoshoot.
As expected, people shouted nervously, laughed out loud, while some even uttered expletives. There were also some stoic participants who managed to stay surprisingly quiet. These were four men and girls who seemed to take the 300,000 volts of electricity in stride.
