This photo was released to the public after Iran made an announcement regarding a new stealth fighter jet. Naturally, this made US foreign policy makers a tad bit uncomfortable about what’s to come. However, their fears may be misplaced for now because the photo above is simply a Photoshop composite.
If you’re going to make that kind of a statement, you better make sure that you’re going to deliver (not that anyone’s encouraging them to acquire stealth fighter jets), otherwise you run the risk of looking like a fool in front of the whole world. At least hire an expert to do the retouching. A high school student could have done a better job, for crying out loud.
What’s worse is that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called it “among the most advanced fighter jets in the world.”
The so-called “advanced fighter jet” pictured below looks exactly like the one that appears in the composite above. Coincidence? Definitely not.
If you’ll take a closer look, you’ll notice that the lighting looks way off when placed against the photo of a snow-covered mountain range (below) which readers also found online.
The jet in question cannot even fly! It’s a scaled model of a concept plane, hence the lack of bolts and rivets. Unless this is a clever ploy to make them appear sloppy on purpose, I’d say Iran has to step up their Photoshop skills if they plan to do anything like this again in the future.
Remember Iran’s space monkey? Well, that too turned out to be a bit of a mystery. Before the launch, photos released by the ISNA showed a monkey with a mole above its right eye. But upon completion of the spaceflight, the photos showed an entirely different monkey, one that had no mole above its right eye, darker fur and a different facial structure altogether.
Iranian space officials insist that the space monkey launch was genuine, but that another monkey was chosen when the time came. “I say this with certainty that the monkey is in good health and the spaceflight didn’t have any physical effect on Pishgam,” Ebrahimi said.
