Once in a while, I come across one or two photographers who set out to use their cameras for bigger and better things than themselves. It shouldn’t always be about the commissions or the marketing value (thought it’s inevitable sometimes), but a way to give back to others for the good that they have done for the people around them. We’ve all heard of that one person who manages to remain positive in spite of all the challenges thrown at him/her, so hopefully this video will inspire other photographers and videographers to reach out to people like them.
We hear stories about cancer everyday, but it’s a shame that we don’t all have the means to send the people affected to Paris for a quick getaway from the stress and pain. So many people deserve the opportunity to look and feel beautiful despite their ailments, but do not have the support system that Jill Brzezinski-Conley has.
Hearing that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 32 can be crippling; just when you think your life has just begun, the other shoe drops. There have been those who recovered and lived a long and happy cancer-free life, but not everyone is that lucky. Jill was in breast cancer remission for a little over a year when she was diagnosed with stage IV incurable bone cancer.
Jill pointed out that she wasn’t the only one going through cancer; her friends and family were as well. In fact, her friend was the one who contacted Sue about Jill’s story. It just goes to show how a single email, call or text can go a long way in bridging distances.
Photographer Sue Bryce and Videographer Hailey Bartholomew teamed up to give Jill an opportunity to tell her story. They did an amazing job at creating something that so many other women out there can benefit from and even relate to. Society has a way of warping our sense of what is beautiful and what isn’t, and videos like this make me think that not all has been lost.
Watch as Sue and Hailey bring Jill’s wonderful energy all over Paris. It’s a touching video, well-made and edited with a lot of love and care.
