Italy-based Elena Morelli shoots incredibly fantastic landscape images and her portfolio is absolutely spectacular. It is a collection that one should find the time view. Morelli has a vast collection of landscape photographs, as well as a few shots of her black feline pet, Luna. Morelli’s approach to photography is largely instinctual. She is passionate about taking pictures of anything that emotionally affects her or makes her think.
Morelli counts herself as very fortunate since she has never found herself in situations in which taking a picture posed too much difficulty. That does not mean though that she does not exert effort when it is necessary, as she recently shared.
“A few times, though, I’ve taken some pics with the snow up to my thighs, but I wouldn’t define them difficult — hard, maybe, or painful. On the other hand, there are images in my mind I’d like to capture, but I still haven’t, either because I didn’t have the time or the climate was not right or I haven’t managed yet to reach a particular location. Maybe they will turn out to be difficult, maybe not; I don’t know yet.” Her usual gear are a Canon 5D Mark II or Hasselblad 500C/M.
Morelli’s native Viareggio which she exquisitely shoots is a city and commune found in northern Tuscany, Italy, along the Tyrrhenian Sea coast. It has a population of over 64,000, and is the second largest city within the province of Lucca.
The place traces its beginnings back to the first half of the 16th century when it became the only way to the sea for the Republic of Lucca. See some amazing landscape images of the place shot flawlessly by Morelli on her blog.
Morelli is also incredibly attached to her photography as she turns to it at times as an emotional outlet. “They wipe the tears from my eyes in the saddest moments, and encourage my stare filling it with wonder, and in a way they teach me something new about myself everyday.”
